When Brad's father Charles thanked me for being Brad's friend, I had to confess that I had only known Brad for a very short time. I went to the hospital with my wife Diana to visit Brad's wife Cindy. Brad was in pretty bad shape at this point and when Diana and Cindy "went for walk" Brad and I were left to each other's company...this is when I met Brad for the first time. I'm not much of a conversationalist and Brad was not feeling well, but we spent the next 2 hours talking like we were old friends. I ventured into treacherous territory when I asked Brad if he new Jesus and that Jesus loved him. When Brad answered that Jesus was his Lord and his Savior, we began to open up to one another. It became clear that while Brad harbored no death wish, he was nevertheless not fearful of death. He knew that Jesus had prepared a place for him in Heaven and looked forward to the day when his pain would be over and when he would be able to be with Jesus. We talked for hours about God's grace and mercy and formed a brief but special relationship that afternoon that I shared with Charles when I called him as soon as I heard that Brad had been called home. I have been praying for weeks for God's perfect healing for Brad and shortly after noon on September 29 God answered my prayers; Brad's pain was over; and Brad got to be with his beloved Lord at last.
