Obituary for Eugene Dale Bishop

Eugene Dale Bishop, 89, of Cross Plains passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Cross Plains. Burial will follow at Cross Plains Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church at 2 PM.

Dale was born on February 2, 1928 in Eastland county to the late John Lee and Lillian Ruth Barrington Bishop. He married Anna Vernelle Bishop on July 2, 1950 in Sweetwater. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage until her passing on July 11, 2014. He owned Bishop Chevrolet in Cross Plains from 1946 until 1982. Dale then worked at Bayer Motors in Comanche until his retirement. He was very active in the community coaching Baseball for many years. Dale enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Plains. Dale taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, treasurer and was the longest serving Deacon at the time of his passing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dale is survived by a son, Wayne Bishop and wife Nancy of Brownwood; 6 grandchildren, Brian and wife Angel Bishop, Joey and wife Angela, Rachelle Norris and husband Mark; Clint Bishop, Julie Mann and husband Kerry, Lori Boyd and husband Chad; great grandchildren, Logan and Aubrey Bishop, Ian Norris, Seth Bishop, Caris Bishop, Theo and Myra Mann; a sister, Juanice Adams; daughter in-law, Charlotte Bishop Watson and husband Leeland; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Dale was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Larry and Tim Bishop; 2 sisters, Lillian Beaman and Nelda Sullivan.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cross Plains, PO Box 130, Cross Plains, TX 76443.
