Obituary for Fay Marie Simons (Melton)

Fay Marie Melton-Simons, 78, of Cross Plains, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28 at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, Texas. Burial will follow the service at Cross Plains Memorial Park in Cross Plains. The family will have a time of visitation on Wednesday, December 27 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Fay was born on January 17, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to the late Joe Chester and Eula Fay Worley-Melton. She married Homer Simons in 1954. They made their home in Cross Plains, and were happily married for 57 years. Fay worked with Homer in every venture he tried. Having a plumbing business for years, she loved working on the ranch with their cattle, naming every animal. Already having a backhoe and dump trucks for the oil field work, fay became a certified-on site sewer installer, which she and Homer did until he passes away in 2011. Fay was also the full-time pastor at for 30 years at the Revival Center, lovingly known as the “The Pink Church”.

Fay is survived by her three step-children, Burlie Simons and wife, Brenda of Putnam, TX; Brandy Pence and David Lynn Simons and wife, Bobbie of Valley Mills, TX; precious grandchildren, great grandchildren; six brothers, Ray Worley and wife, La Neal, David Worley and wife, Vicki of Cross Plains, TX; Rick Worley and wife, Tammy of Abilene, TX; Dennis Worley of Cross Plains, TX; Joe and Eugene Melton; 5 sisters, Clara Fay, Letha Marie; Pollie Sue, Rosealee, and Ruby Dail.

Fay was also preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Earl Worley.
